EMCN Vision, Mission and Values

The following values and organizational principles are the framework for EMCN’s mission and vision.

  1. Respect
    Every human being is a unique and complex individual worthy of respect and recognition - as individuals, as members of families, as members of community – and each person has the right to be treated justly and to make choices and live in safety without discrimination.

    Democratic and participatory approaches are used in EMCN’s operations.
     
  3. Appreciating Diversity
    Diversity, with full inclusion and participation, is an asset for a strong and healthy society.
     
  4. Excellence
    Excellence is the standard of all EMCN activities, determined by objective and rigorous evaluative practices.
     
  5. Effective Communication
    Communication at EMCN is truthful, transparent, encouraging, and respectful of differing opinions; personal information is kept confidential.

    Individual actions and organizational behavior demonstrate hope and love and the same values are nurtured in individuals and organizations with which EMCN is in contact.


Mission

Using a model of holistic integrated practice, Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers:

  • Provides programs and services that enable immigrants to participate with equity, dignity and respect in all aspects of life; and
  • Contributes to the development of public policy; and
  • Works to increase understanding by the dominant culture of the importance and involvement of immigrants to Canadian life.


Vision

EMCN works for the development of a just civil society that is democratic and intercultural.
