Settlement Practitioners facilitate interactions between people of different cultures and backgrounds. They help connect families, schools and communities.

Settlement Practitioners:

• Facilitate communication between home and school
• Provide information for parents and students regarding the Alberta educational system
• Help teachers communicate with and support parents and students from different cultures
• Organize workshops for teachers and Faculty of Education students, immigrant students and parents regarding school issues and cultural perspectives.

While Settlement Practitioners are available to all immigrant youth in Edmonton, they are most active in serving five ethno-cultural communities: Sudanese, Somali, Kurdish, Sierra Leonean, and Iraqi.
