Settlement Counseling and Support

Services are available to help refugees and immigrants settle in Canada. EMCN Settlement Counselors can assist you with:

  • Settlement orientation and referrals
  • Meeting basic needs such as finding housing
  • Registering children in schools
  • Completing government forms
  • Assessing your income needs and referrals to employment counselors
  • Supportive counselling
  • Immigration related information and referrals


Interpretation and translation services are offered in some languages.


If you need to find a place to live, a settlement counselor at EMCN can help you:

  • determine what type of accommodation best suits your needs
  • find housing available in the area you choose
  • apply for subsidized housing
  • help you learn the roles and responsibilities of landlord and tenant
  • assist you with communicating with the landlord
